PCI-PROTO LAB/PLX-M is an efficient aid for developing add-on boards for personal computers and other computer systems which are equipped with a PCI bus. PCI-PROTO LAB/PLX-M works with the Master PCI controller PCI9054 from PLX Technology, which controls typical PCI operation modes as the 'Bus Master Tranfer Mode' and complies with the PCI Local Bus Specification Revision 2.2. The board is assembled, tested, and ready for immediate operation. The system designer can mount his/her own hardware directly on the user area and start testing. This means that you can minimize dealing with the signal plays and the technical properties (timing etc.) of the PCI bus system. PCI-PROTO LAB/PLX-M is a long PCI board manufactured in four layers. It can be cut off at the place marked and transformed into a short board. PCI-PROTO LAB/PLX-M is designed as a universal PCI card with operating voltages of 5V or 3.3V. The connection for 3.3V and ground is made through each of its own layers and there is a grid structure on the component side for the 5V supply. PCI-PROTO LAB/PLX-M is delivered with a premounted bracket.The user may retro-equip it with a 15-pin sub-D connector and a BNC connector. We have rounded off PCI-PROTO LAB/PLX-M's hardware documentation with electronic schematics, component and connection diagrams, EPLD source texts, and oscillograms. A serial EEPROM is included with the PCI-PROTO LAB/PLX-M for use of specific configuration data. Programming the EEPROM may easily be performed through our software utility, which is included; thus, an optional external Programmer's Kit is not required. To perform easy and improved electronic circuitry design, PCI-PROTO LAB/PLX-M includes an EPLD (M4A3-64/32, Lattice), which offers general control logic and space in reserve for optional user-specific logic improvements. The EPLD is 'in System' programmable. PCI-PROTO LAB/PLX-M is already equipped with the 32bit Data Registers. This enables data DWORDS to be read and written without any additional hardware needed. The following is a great advantage for hardware designers and test experts: the signal wiring of the PCI-PROTO/PLX-M includes pin headers for easy test probe access. It allows you to simply clip your scope probe to the pin header and watch the signals instantly! Prototype boards are also available as bare PCB, with or without electronic components mounted to the PCB! PCI-PROTO LAB/PLX-M comes with a comprehensive handbook.
